INTRODUCTION:- The rebuilding of any E Type Jaguar can be a lengthy and expensive process and with today’s modern materials and manufacturing processes, they are better finished, perform better and are more protected from corrosion and time related deterioration than when they were new.THE PROCESS:- We would like to let you know how we go about the process of assessment, stripping, reconditioning and rebuilding followed by the finishing trades. Like all Jaguars models the early versions have that extra classical appeal. Therefore you are faced immediately with an older car but one which commands a greater price . So with this in mind a full documented assessment takes place before the whole car is stripped.

THE REBUILD PROCESS:- The empty shell is fitted into a carrying jig to check and control the cars shape before any sections are removed and replaced with all new panels which panels are all protected with the latest available technological coatings All the smaller parts go off to be stripped, cleaned, plated ready for reassembly into the working units. The engine, gearbox and rear axle go off to the Engine Shop where all the machinery is housed for crankshaft grinding , re-sleeving, boring, line boring, lightened and balancing jobs can be completed, also to be able to overhaul the gearbox and rear axle we have slotters, gear cutters and presses to assist us where parts and essential pieces are now obsolete. As the mechanical pieces go through this process the body becomes finished and ready for underbody sealing and paintwork. The whole onsomble now moves to the final assembly section for the whole car to be put together. Every job we perform is controlled with each car having its own log book, photograph album and log of each skilled mans involvement. Every new part required, whether bought in or manufactured in house and is recorded in the vehicles log book. Finally when we have a mobile vehicle once again we can start the process of engine testing, carburettors setting, brake balance, steering geometry, door shuts, bonnet fitting and adjustment for body lines. Final road testing is the last job.

The whole process has a team of skilled men with the management structure is 15 people with the rebuild from start to finish taking between 6 and 9 months. For futher details please contact Lanes Cars to discuss.
